The final temptation Jesus experienced in Luke 4 corresponds to the "pride of life" in 1 John 2:16. Satan tempts us by appealing to our pride. He tries to make us believe, by twisting Scripture, that God must answer to us and that we have a right to test and prove God's goodness. We have no such right.
How do we overcome pride? We simply need to stop, think, and humble ourselves before the Lord.
