Who are we?

We are an assembly of like-minded believers in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  The Bible describes the early believers in Jesus Christ as followers of the "Way" (Acts 9:1-2), and we believe Jesus' life, death, and resurrection were the fulfilment of God's plan to save the world.  We exist to share this good news of God's love through action and word.  So, at HBC you will experience many ministries that serve the needs of the members and the community.

We intend to continue the fulfillment of Christ's commission to make disciples of all nations.  In doing so, we want to partner with you and you with us.

Our History
Est. 1880

Harmony Baptist Church has a rich heritage and history in the transformative ministry of the gospel in the community of Gaston.  Under the leadership of faithful stewards, hundreds of people have responded with faith in the gospel of Christ.  We are thankful for the many years God has blessed, and we believe the Lord will continue to work through us to further His Kingdom.

What is the vision?

We intend to live out our faith as an assembly of harmonized believers who greatly desire to learn, worship, and serve the Lord with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.  We want to be a multi-generational church that will exist for years to come and whose ministries are actively growing.

Our Mission

Harmony Baptist Church exists for the sole purpose glorifying and honoring the Lord in all that we do. This is accomplished through praise and worship of the Lord and the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20):

  • Evangelism: spreading the gospel of Christ through the cooperative effort of local and foreign missions,
  • Discipleship: growing in faith through studying and teaching Scripture, prayer, worshiping regularly, and service,
  • Giving to the support of our church and the Cooperative Program, and
  • Always seeking to maintain Christ-like fellowship with all members of Harmony Baptist Church and other churches.
