One of the most important and popular analogies of God's relationship with us is Father and child. We were once slaves to sin, but God paid our ransom through the cross of Christ and offers adoption to become His children. "Yet to all who did receive Him [Christ], to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to be called children of God" (Jn. 1:12).
